But recreational running has become popular in Las Vegas in recent years, and the city now has its own marathon. When summer turns its blast-furnace heat on Las Vegas, locals have the sense to lay low until sundown. But then we amble out to enjoy some company and some sweet music in the (relative) cool of the evening. Several area venues offer open-air summer concert series, generally on weekends, which cater to a wide range of musical interests. They're healthy, they're family-friendly and – best of all – they're free.
There’s nothing like drinking a beer and eating a mustard-soaked hot dog while sitting at a baseball game. But in Vegas? Yes, in Vegas. The city that places more sports bets than anyplace else on earth also has a decent AAA baseball team – and an enthusiastic fan base. Allow me to introduce the Las Vegas 51s.
