Got the Blues? Good for You!

It’s probably fair to say that women, in general, are more reluctant to go out on the town by themselves than men, but I traveled a lot for business when I lived back East and so I’m used to exploring new territory alone. After five years of living in Las Vegas, I can tell you that local blues venues are fun, safe places to make the scene, even for an aging nymph like me.

Horsing Around at the South Point

Ever wonder about all those horse trailers pulled up to the South Point Hotel and Casino? What could be going on? Horse racing? Rodeo? Blacksmiths’ convention? Nope – at least not during the third week in May, when I stopped in at the 2008 Breeder’s Invitational and Derby for an edifying display of loping and cutting – old-time cattlemen’s skills executed with great seriousness and the intrinsic “Cowboy Way” sense of humor.
