Thursday, November 12, 2009

Here’s today’s Vegas Eye mystery location puzzle! This one’s a little easier than last week – maybe….

Is that a lawn? Or where are we?

I tried posting my guesses earlier this morning at precily the same time the cable company decided was a good time to take the entire network off line. I guess Cox Communications feels no one is awake at 3am.
    Anyway, I am going with
    1- Lake Las Vegas
2- Some where on the golf course. I know that is not ‘exactly’ though.
    3- Lake Mead.

I am confident #2 is incorrect.

BTW- Interesting little thing…above it says my post was at 1:56 but Las Vegas time is actually 12:56

Clue #1: The town’s slogan is “A Great Place to Call Home”

Clue #2: Think where your car/bike/scooter/etc. would need to be parked to capture this view. As a further hint, I’ve taken a dozen or so visiting friends to this exact spot in the last decade for a version of this view…

Troy, I mis-read your entry — I thought those were alternative guesses — but you are correct as far as you go….

It is at Lake Las Vegas, which is in Henderson, and the water in the lake is pumped up hill from Lake Mead. In this case, water really does flow uphill towards money….

Now, I want a little closer ID of where one would be standing to see this view…..

Obviously this puzzle was too easy…. I’ll get some more stumpers in line soon.

    testing the time stamp now

lovely picture – I’m on the case :)

#2 is close — but you really need to identify where this is….

That timing thing is a Word Press issue — The Administrator obviously can’t count… I’ll fix it in just a second. It should be reading correctly now!

  8. Patti from Michigan says:

there’s a little bridge at the Reflection Bay Golf Course – perhaps you would be sitting in a golf cart viewing this scene?

  9. Vegas Eye says:

    Patti,

Good guess, but I think that it would be pretty much impossible to see that view from the bridge.

Clue #3: If you WERE sitting on that bridge you’d be looking at the Ritz Carlton Hotel — what’s the name of the OTHER hotel? If you were in that other space you might recognize the view by looking at Google Maps….

  10. Patti Morden says:

the other resort is Loews Lake Las Vegas?

  11. Vegas Eye says:

Yep, that would be the name….

Now…. look at a satellite view of the the resort — notice anything that looks familiar…. (I’m sorta beating a dead horse on this one….)

Thanks for these puzzles. I really like them and am thankful.
I will try to come up with some ideas of some interesting things perhaps you can use for future puzzles.

  15. Vegas Eye says:

Thanks for the kudos — I had to take an unplanned trip to LA today and my return to LV is unclear, so I don’t know when I’ll be able to look for some more VE puzzle photos…. But, soon, very soon!
