A Bonus Vegas Eye Mystery Location
Wednesday, December 2, 2009
Megan Edwards’ newest article post is postponed for a couple of days and so here’s a couple of bonus Vegas Eye mystery location puzzles! The first one may look too easy for you — after all, there’s a huge visual clue in it…
1. The trickier part — Where EXACTLY would you be standing to see this view?
2. What local architectural firm is associated with this building?
3. When did this building open to the public?

Bonus VE#2: This one is hopefully a little trickier....

1. There’s a really cool visual clue here…. By looking at the reflection, what is the name of this building?
2. When did it open to the public?
3. What’s the catch-phrase associated with this?
4. Where was the photographer standing to shoot this image?
More about the Vegas Eye mystery photo game:
1) Anyone can play! If you think you know the location of the place or landmark pictured in the mystery photo and can answer the accompanying questions, please post your responses as a comment below. Locations and landmarks are all located within a 35-mile radius of Las Vegas City Hall.
2) We invite you to contribute mystery photos to Vegas Eye and pose your own puzzle questions. If you’d like to contribute, please keep in mind that a good subject for a mystery photo should be unique in some way. There should be subtle but identifiable visual clues in the photo to help players solve the puzzle. Please send photos and puzzle questions to Vegas Eye at this address. (Please submit high resolution photos. Full-size images straight from your camera are best.)
3) We invite you to subscribe to the Vegas Eye Mystery Photo feature so you’ll have the first shot at solving each week’s puzzle.

My favorite pic! Bonus #1—You are standing at the top of the staircase/escalator to the trams to take you to the main terminal to collect your luggage and off to the fun! I think there’s a really cool snake at the bottom of the stairs~ and a map as well
Patti, Nice to see you here — on a Wednesday! OK, Bonus #1 is at the top of an escalator…but WHERE in the airport was this taken from? I think that you’re correct about the snake…. but I still need the location and you’ll need that to answer #2 and #3 questions…. I would think.

d concourse – Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects
1998, the D gates opened, and bonus # 2 is the Trump Tower …
Excellent — It is the D concourse, and Tate Snyder Kimsey are local architects with offices in Henderson, NV. — I like the home page of their site!
And when was the D concourse opened to the public?
Trump Tower opened in 2008
In 1998 the D Gates SE and SW wings opened adding 28 gates. The D Gates project is a modification to the original McCarran 2000 plan
Bonus # 2 – looks like the pic may have been taken from the Wynn – not sure.
Catch phrase, hmmm…
I think the picture of the Trump Tower was taken from Treasure Island – TI
“the ultimate address in Las Vegas,” The Trump International Hotel and Tower Las Vegas has a prominent place on the legendary Las Vegas Strip.
Patti,
I think you’ve smoked all of these puzzles! Excellent work.
There will be a new “regularly scheduled” VE puzzle in the morning. I think it is tougher than both of these, but I’m often surprised by your skills!
gotta work in the morning – I’ll be here asap though, I was so happy to find a puzzle tonight, what a treat! Thanks, but I did not figure out bonus #4 from last weeks puzzle, bet you will use that one in the future!
Oh hi. A little late this time I see. LOL
If anyone reading this gets a chance to stay at Trump I would say “Do so”. I toured the place a couple of days before it opened and it is gorgeous. The south facing rooms have an awesome view.
This edition of VE was actually early (or a bonus) so I don’t think you were “late”.
The Trump is running discounted rates and rooms can be obtained here for ~ $65 per night — a bargain for what the place cost and what they expected to be able to rent these rooms for.
