A Very Special Vegas Eye Treat!

Thursday, December 17, 2009

Today’s the birthday of the founder and executive editor of Living-Las-Vegas.com and she’s the driving force behind this puzzle. So…. Happy Birthday to MEGAN EDWARDS and we hope you enjoy “her” puzzle.

How many times have you looked at the door pulls and/or door handles of the casinos you’ve walked into? Some of them are pretty extraordinary and easily recognized. The Bellagio and the Tropicana are easy to remember. What about the carpet? Can you remember what features are representative of certain properties? The following photos were captured at five different properties on the strip. Can you match the door pulls with the carpet and identify the property? There are 11 photos — Good Luck! Some are really easy — and others may be a bit challenging. Put your pairs in the comments below — (if you click on any of the images, you can view them all in a slide show and each of the photos are identified with a letter to make it easier for you to match them up).

  1. Troy In Las Vegas says:

Doorhandle R goes with carpet K which you can check out at MGM.

  2. Vegas Eye says:

Troy, given your background — MGM was a bit too easy for you… Yes, R and K are properly matched.

  3. Vegas Eye says:

‘Wow! I finally managed to stump the three primary “Vegas-Eye-Players” for more than five minutes…. (but I’m sure that Steve, Troy and Patti will be back soon) so in the meantime, why don’t you post your own guesses here?

  4. Patti Morden says:

ok – that’s not fair, I am not stumped until I get a chance to play -just got home from work – on to the game!

  5. Patti Morden says:

I want to say that the letter X carpet and the letter E handle go together at the Riviera

  6. Patti Morden says:

and the letter L carpet with the letter B door handle goes together at the Las Vegas Hilton

  7. Vegas Eye says:

Heh, heh! I knew that would get Patti’s attention….

    OK, recapping what we know:

MGM Grand: Door Pull R with Carpet K
Riviera: Door Pull E and Carpet X
LV Hilton: Door Pull B and Carpet L

  8. Patti Morden says:

I would like to say that carpet A and door handle P go together…

  9. Patti Morden says:

I think letter Q is the Wynn carpet and that the letter P door handle goes with this one as well since the Encore is a sister property

  10. Patti Morden says:

I would like to say that carpet A and door handle P go together… at the Encore?

  11. Patti Morden says:

gosh I don’t know about the letter C carpet – and the letter S door – I am perplexed – was thinking Mandalay Bay – but I think that’s wrong.

  12. Vegas Eye says:

It warms the cockles of my hard heart to read words like “perplexed” coming from you!

  13. Vegas Eye says:

OK, recapping what we know now…

MGM Grand: Door Pull R with Carpet K
Riviera: Door Pull E and Carpet X
LV Hilton: Door Pull B and Carpet L
Encore: Door Pull P and Carpet A

You were on the right track with Q… but the pairing is not quite correct!

    So… Still to finish are: Q, C, & S….

  14. Patti Morden says:

Ah, Q is another Encore carpet – going with door pull P ??

  15. Vegas Eye says:

Nope… Q is not an Encore carpet… very, very close, but no cigar. P is an Encore Door Pull but the pairing is still not quite correct.

How does someone who doesn’t live here, who can’t just go downtown on the way home from work, and look at the carpet figure this out?

  16. Patti Morden says:

ok, I am frustrated that I cannot solve this puzzle completely – they all LOOK familiar, but it’s harder than it looks to match them up – good job Vegas Eye! I do love this game – and I am still gonna work on the puzzles not completed. The Martini drink glass with the lime slice from the boneyard is bugging me. I don’t know the name of the skywalk between the Main Street Station and the California downtown.

thanks for a compelling game :)

  17. New Rule:

If the players/contributors from the Vegas Eye game are unable to completely solve all of the questions posed by Vegas Eye in a thirty (30) day period — then Vegas Eye is compelled to provide the answers….

But there will certainly be bonus points awarded to competitors who solve these puzzles prior to Vegas Eye providing the final answers… (Exactly what one does with these bonus points, is still to be determined….)

    Mark

  18. Patti Morden says:

I love the new rule – awesome!
