About Holly McKinnis

Holly McKinnis

Holly McKinnis is a Las Vegas native and a UNLV graduate in Theater Arts. Naturally, she has spent her career years working shows on The Strip, but she’s always longed to be a full-time writer. By day she taps keys to create alternate realities, and by night fixes feathers and rhinestones as a professional nude dresser.

Firefly Tapas: Big Food on Little Plates

The Firefly has landed. If you live in Las Vegas and discover a craving for tapas, it’s totally unnecessary to pack your bags and book a flight to Spain. A trip across the Atlantic is as close as Paradise and more delicious than you could have imagined. Continue reading »

Nude Dressing – Don’t Try This at Home!

"A nude dresser! What kind of a job is that?" It’s a question I’ve heard a thousand times, but my job is not as easy as it sounds. Technically, showgirls aren’t nude. There are feathers and sequins to apply and re-apply, along with rhinestones, boas, towering headdresses and a medieval-looking apparatus called an underwire. In the art of titillation, Vegas-style, less often turns into more. Continue reading »

The Curtain Drops on Fifty Years of Fabulous

When the curtain comes down on Fifty Years of Fabulous, what’s next for the cast and crew of the "Folies Bergere"? For some it’s another show, for others it’s hanging up the dancing shoes or starting a whole new career – selling real estate, serving cocktails or retiring to that old Kentucky home. For me it’s sending out resumés and waiting for the phone to ring. Continue reading »

A French Twist for the Easter Bunny

Holidays in Las Vegas – a city of adult fantasies – are always interesting, but add a European element and those colored eggs can really get scrambled. Continue reading »

hair Xperts

March 18, 2009

I found this place after a great lunch at the Bagel Cafe on Buffalo. It’s at 7520 Westcliff Drive. My hair loves these guys. After a dunk and cut, I look ready to run for office . . . as a Republican. My head starts to look grown-up and my brain feels intellectual. Ricky and Noel keep the chatter light and constant. This is the place to go to get cut, colored and caught up. 702-228-8861
