Luv-it Custard
Some people love it, others are less impressed, but just about everyone would agree that this establishment located adjacent to the Olympic Gardens Gentleman Club in downtown Las Vegas is worth a visit.
Steve Fey is, without doubt, the strongest advocate on Living-Las-Vegas.com for this particular store…
Brian Rouff gives it five stars in his recommendations for a cheap date.…
Whereas, Michael Dickman gives it a “barely mentioned” in his post about the best ice cream in the galaxy.

The Bouchon Bistro
Bouchon is owned by one of the most famous chefs working today, Thomas Keller and is tucked away on the 10th floor of the Venezia tower in the Venetian. I would never have found the place without my girlfriend’s detailed instructions (look for the lone elevator in the parking garage, casino level, to take you straight to it!). Read more about this charming French bistro hidden away at the Venetian in this review article written by Tasha Pittser.

I'm not much of a caged-animal kind of guy. I prefer that creatures go about the planet natural and free. But I admit I enjoy a good zoo, where I can hobnob with some endangered species and watch humans wait on animals hand and foot. Las Vegas has a zoo – not a very big or tidy one, but a fascinating one nonetheless, a place where the animals are truly cared for and the visitors get more than they expect. Continue reading »

Hush Puppy Restaurant
“….I’ve lived in Las Vegas for about decade, and I’ve driven by the restaurant on West Charleston dozens of times. I’ve always wondered why the property looked so nice, but the parking lot was always deserted during the daytime. Obviously, I’ve grown accustomed to the Nevada-style tavern – where excellent food and brews are available 24/7. Last night on the way back from a book launch party for….” (read more about the Hush Puppy Restaurant here).

Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop
There is a Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop about 2 miles from the office and I swing by as often as I can. I love their roast turkey club. All of their meats are locally roasted and you can really taste the difference. Some of the other amazing creations include the Capastrami sandwich (made with hot pastrami, melted Swiss cheese, Russian dressing and cole slaw) and the Cran-Slam Club (a triple decker with homemade turkey, cranberry sauce, ham, mayo and lettuce).
There are more than 50 company-owned locations in eight states, including Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Utah and Nevada. But I can tell you from personal experience, each store has it’s own personality and “feels” like home to me. More information here.
Why is it that the things we love in life are sometimes the ones we neglect most? I love jazz – always have – and I've been a member of the Las Vegas Jazz Society for nine years. And yet I never went to one of their concerts until two weeks ago. But what a concert it was – soulful, uplifting, joyful, creative – everything I love about jazz, and less than 20 minutes from downtown. Continue reading »
