There are two Freed’s Bakery locations in Las Vegas. The one I shop at is located on Eastern Avenue in the Richmar Plaza. They have great “plates of cookies” that I use for bookstore events. Last December, I surprised Megan with a birthday cake fashioned in the shape of two-foot tall Christmas tree complete with wrapped packages and decorations. Sugar and Spice in Sin City

The neighborhood bakery is an institution fast disappearing from even the oldest cities and towns, replaced by supermarket "bakery departments" offering sheet cakes with suspect frostings.
