$2 Wine and Other Casino Bargains

Casino Beat: Here’s an insider’s run-down of great deals Las Vegas locals and visitors should know about this summer. The sky is the limit for marketing departments at many Las Vegas casinos, especially those that cater to locals and savvy visitors willing to go off-Strip. Fans of free food, free drinks and free money should take note!

I really enjoy checking my mail. Especially now that I live in Las Vegas. It pays off, but not because freelancing is such a high paying endeavor that my mailbox is always stuffed with checks. (sadly, it isn’t) It pays off because I never know what the casinos are going to entice me with next!

As I mentioned last week, I am a big fan of enrolling in casino player’s clubs and I recommend that any Las Vegas resident or frequent visitor enroll in as many as possible too, even if you aren’t a big gambler. Sure they might drop you from their mailing lists after a few months if you don’t meet their active player minimums. It has happened to me plenty of times. But the first couple of months after joining a new player’s club is like the steamy days of a hot new romance.

And guys, for once you aren’t the one doing the chasing!

(A) This week I finally got around to opening a little four-color booklet I received from Silverton Casino as part of their Livin Lodge twelve year anniversary celebration. Boy, am I glad I did! The Silverton (3333 Blue Diamond Hwy.) is freeway convenient from most parts of town as it’s right off I-15 just south of the 15/215 interchange. The promotion runs through the end of August and I heartily recommend everyone buzz on down and join up if you aren’t already a member.

The "Livin' Lodge" promotion at Silverton Casino offers good deals for gamblers and non-gamblers alike.

The Silverton is unaffiliated with any other casino group in town (i.e, Stations, Boyd, MGM/Mirage, or Harrah’s) and is currently running a great promotion. Be sure to ask for a coupon book (see pic) when you sign-up. SPECIAL NOTE: there is a misprint on many of the coupons inside the book. Many of the ones that are listed as expiring July 31, 2009 actually don’t expire until August 31, 2009. Aside from some nice gaming incentives (a “12 wins” on blackjack coupon, various match play and point multiplier coupons) there are also some good 2 for 1 dining coupons at the Sundance Grill and other Silverton restaurants that don’t require earning any points at all. If nothing else, there’s several free Patron margarita, free specialty cocktails, free wine and drink credits along with two free gelato coupons that will make your trip worthwhile even if you don’t make a single bet.

Some other good deals around town for the rest of this month:

(B) My current favorite: Free appetizers and $2 wine (or domestic beer) available Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30-9:30 pm outside at the beautiful Villaggio Bar at the M Resort.

Cool deals on hot nights at the M Resort in Las Vegas.

Don’t worry, they have misters and the choice of wine is pretty good even to a wine snob like me. You don’t even have to be a member of the M’s Player Club to enjoy this special deal, although that’s how I found out about it.

(C) Also on the south side of town, on Friday nights from 4-10 pm all the casino (floor) bars at Southpoint Casino are offering all drinks for $1. Don’t forget your elbow pads though if you decide to go. It’s fun, but rowdy. Again, no player’s card necessary.

D) For those in the north or west part of town, this Friday the awesome Doors tribute band Peace Frog is playing on Friday night at the Cannery Casino (2121 E. Craig Rd) for only $5 at the door. On Saturday night, also at the Cannery, the Alan Parson’s Project is performing to a Pink Floyd inspired laser show. Tickets start at $25 but should be worth it to fans of those hazy, halcyon days of Pink Floyd reverie back in the ’70’s and ’80’s.

Note: for out of town visitors, the M Resort, Silverton and Southpoint currently have attractive room rates and special mid-week packages designed to lure guests intimidated by our warm-ish summer temperatures.

Next week I am going to take a look at the very attractive Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock “My Vacation” packages, as well as the One Six Sky Lounge at the Eastside Cannery and other food and drink specials at the M Resort.

  1. Great tips, Eric. I’m especially glad to know about the expiration date error in the Silverton coupon book.

  2. I’ve got to try the $2 wine at the M. I’ve tried their “house” wine, and it’s darn good. Is that what you get for $2?

  3. I’ve wanted to check out the M Resort, and the $2 wine tip is just the incentive! Glad to have discovered this website. Thanks!

  4. Megan – yes, the $2 wine is their regular house wine, which as you said is quite good. Some secret winery (probably in California) is making it for them and putting the Marnell label on it. I am aiming to find out exactly who/where and scoop it for LLV.

  5. It would be nice to know where they get it. It’s the best house wine I know of in Las Vegas. Have you come across any better ones?
