Here’s this week’s Mystery Location Photo…. Actually, this is a special Thanksgiving edition of this feature and I thought you might appreciate a bit more of challenge than I’ve provided in recent editions… Troy solved the puzzle of the mysterious build edifice nearly as fast as the “ink was dry” on the site last week. All of these photos were taken at the Neon Museum Boneyard — Your mission, should you elect to accept it… will be to identify the property that these signs used to be at. To make it a bit challenging, only key elements of each of the sign photos are displayed below. Have fun! You can post your answers in the comments below — Just be sure to identify which mystery neon sign you are referring to!

OK, how are you doing? Here’s the bonus round… five slightly tougher images — but who knows, they might be the easiest of the lot….

3) We invite you to subscribe to the Vegas Eye Mystery Photo feature so you’ll have the first shot at solving each week’s puzzle.
I am not gonna do too good on this one.
I do look forward to learning the answers…especially for Bonus #3
So I have-
#1 as El Rancho But it could be the other “El _____” downtown but I am going with El Tancho.
#2 is Moulon Rougue. No points for spelling. Sorry. LOL
#4 is Treasure Island. One of my favorite signs.
Bonus #1 is Stardust.
Bonus #4 looks like a Bong-a-rita as I like to call them but where would that be from? Bayou pr Mermaid on Fremont? Hmmm…
That is all I have.
1 El Cortez
2 Moulin Rouge Casino
3 Silver Slipper
4 Treasure Island
5
6 Golden Nugget
bonus 1 Stardust
bonus 2 Kings and Queens
bonus 3 Ugly Duckling Car Sales
bonus 4
bonus 5 city center hotel
still working on the others — good puzzle!!!
These are my guesses –
1 El Cortez
2 Moulin Rouge Casino
3 Silver Slipper
4 Treasure Island
5 Players Club
6 Golden Nugget
bonus 1 Stardust
bonus 2 Kings and Queens
bonus 3 Ugly Duckling Car Sales
bonus 4 La Salsa Cantina inside NYNY
bonus 5 city center hotel
Wow, you guys are good!
Confirmations:
#1 is the El Cortez — Do you know where on the strip it was?
#2 is the Moulin Rouge Casino
#3 ……………………………………Good guess — but it’s not quite correct!
#4 is the skull from the Treasure Island
#5 ……………………………………Good guess — but it’s not quite correct!
#6 is from the Golden Nugget
bonus #1 is from the Stardust
bonus #2 ……………………………………Good guess — but it’s not quite correct!
bonus #3 is Ugly Duckling Car Sales, I’m amazed you got this one!
bonus #4 (not what i had — but please show me your source!) La Salsa Cantina inside NYNY
bonus #5 is the city center motel —
Wow!, wow! Wow! I really thought I could stump you a little more… but there are still a couple to confirm. Happy Hunting!
And #3 is a bit tricky– further give-away clue… It’s the second time the sign appears in this puzzle…
VE
Double bonus points, (got find a way to slow Patti and Troy down)…
Identify the address of the places these signs once reigned and the years of their employment….
VE
There was an El Cortez on The Strip? Hmmm…
this is a pic of the La Salsa Cantina drink – although it looks like it’s still in use — Yep at the Miracle Mile Shops of Planet Hollywood — so this isn’t the correct sign….
# 3 – I would guess that the white bulbs are a close up of the El Cortez sign – cool shot!
The El Cortez was once owned by Bugsy Seigel and was and still is at 600 Fremont Street
another pic of the Cantina drink – even though it may not be the one you intended:
Bonus # 2 is from the Coin castle – downtown, was the site of the Northern Club.
1 El Cortez 6th street and Fremont 1941-current
2 Moulin Rouge Casino – 900 W Bonanza – May -Nov 1955
3 El Cortez sign close-up
4 Treasure Island – 3300 Las Vegas Blvd, 1993-current
5 gosh I wish I knew – gotta do dishes though
6 Golden Nugget 129 Fremont Street, 1946-current
bonus 1 Stardust -3000 Las Vegas Blvd, 1951-2006
bonus 2 Coin Castle – 115 N 1ST street, 1912-current
bonus 3 Ugly Duckling Car Sales-Boulder Hwy – closed a few years ago
bonus 4 La Salsa Cantina inside NYNY – 3790 Las Vega Blvd, 1997 = to current –
bonus 5 City Center Hotel – Fremont Street, closed, is now a Days Inn
#5 is the Algiers Hotel
2845 Las Vegas Blvd South
1953-current –
Troy and Patti, you are amazing…
I think you’ve got them all nailed now… or nearly so, so….
bonus #2 — Was the Coin Casino (in his glory)
Tha Algiers Hotel was tough (#5) (and my goof on the El Cortez….)
The ultra cool shot found in #3 was actually one of the clear star panels in the Stardust sign.
Bonus #4 — I agree that the signature signs for La Salsa Cantina look similar to the this neon sign, but I really think you need to dig a little deeper for this — or give me a link that “proves” that you are correct on this one! This is representative of what those La Salsa Cantina shop signs look like, but still not there…
Bonus #4 is elusive
ok, bonus #4 is in front of a Best Western sign at the boneyard – can I have another clue?
Is the red item one of the items near the sidewalk next to the M & M store on Las Vegas Blvd? I see many pictures of the boneyard without the red item, maybe it’s been recycled????
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2632/4002948222_f8e26f09ec_m.jpg
so I found a picture as well — is this the same as bonus #4?????
Patti,
If there’s ever a competitive sport for this… I want you on my team. The photo you found sure looks like the margarita goblet in full operational mode… Where was that photograph taken?
VE
well, it may have been at the bone yard, or it may have been taken – at the Fremont East Entertainment District – next to the Fremont Street Experience. I see they have installed some of the signs there recently – they look great. But I don’t see that exact sign – yet.
wait, this is a competitive sport, at least I think it is – lol!!
It was a photo I found on flickr – there are comments beneath it asking where it’s from – funny.
Yes, it is a competitive sport….
