Vegas Values: Another Day in Paradise

Few know that the Las Vegas strip is not actually located in Las Vegas. It is in an unincorporated area of Las Vegas, specifically known as Paradise. A few times a year, I enjoy reliving my days of being a tourist by planning a staycation – I’ll never tire of Paradise. I keep an eye out for special promotions and locals deals. My favorite place to escape is the Signature at MGM Grand. This time, however, I was after a change of scenery. But I was seeking similar accommodations.

Offers trickled in, and I scoured the internet for the best deals. That’s how I came across SniqueAway. It is a members only website that allows you to book premium hotels at affordable rates. There is no cost to join, but an invitation is required (it can be requested on the SniqueAway website). Additionally, for every invited friend who books a SniqueAway escape, you receive $25 credit. They rotate limited time offers available across the country. When I saw Las Vegas listed as a featured destination, I was intrigued. They offered the Platinum Hotel for $99, including all taxes and fees. The rate was even valid on weekends. I snatched it up and reserved the Solitaire Suite for a Saturday night.

The Platinum Hotel is nestled in the shadows of its megaresort neighbors, located just two block east of Bally’s Las Vegas at the heart of the strip. The 255-suite condo-hotel offers standard rates from $129 Sunday-Thursday and $159 on weekends. Accommodations are available in three suite types: The Solitaire Suite is 950 square feet, while the Princess is 1,150 and the Marquise is a whopping 2,100. All are furnished with stainless steel appliances, whirlpool tubs and separate showers, an electric fireplace and private terrace. The Platinum only lacks a casino, and that was by design. It is meant to be an oasis. Amenities include The WELL Spa, adjacent fitness center, and indoor/outdoor pool. There is also Kil@wat restaurant and Stir Lounge. Stir offers half-off well drinks, beer, or wine by the glass every night from 5-7pm.

Our staycation began the moment we turned our keys over to the friendly valet. Check in was smooth and efficient. When I opened the door I was taken aback from the sheer size of the suite. It was nearly twice the size of my first apartment. Not only is it roomy, but it is also well appointed. The kitchen has full-size refrigerator and stove, a small dishwasher and a few steps away is a closet containing a washer and dryer. The sofa is a pull out, which is great for extra guests. It’s impossible not to love the bathroom with its large whirlpool tub, two can fit comfortably. Our suite had a mountain view overlooking the Eastside.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Platinum Hotel. Not only is it great for couples to unwind, it’s also ideal for families or hosting parties. The location is convenient to the strip and airport. Cheap gambling and eats are steps away at Ellis Island and Tuscany Casino. Both are within a short walking distance.

Escape to Paradise, luxuriate with a loved one or celebrate with family and friends at The Platinum Hotel.
