Carpet, wood, stone or vinyl…
Convention season has come to Las Vegas, and early Spring seems to be the time for home builders and interior designers. Last week, the Mandalay Bay Convention Center was the site of a trade show and educational session devoted to floor coverings. The show has the long name of Surfaces/Stone Expo Marmonmacc Americas and features carpets and hard surface flooring. The Surfaces portion of the show is sponsored by the World Floor Covering Association and the Stone Expo/Marmomacc Americas official sponsors are the Marble Institute of America and the Natural Stone Council. The accompanying video includes scenes from both sections of the show.

This year, Surfaces/Stone Expo was held the same time as the Winter Las Vegas Market, the home furnishings show at World Market Center. Shuttle buses were available between the two locations. In 2015, the buses will be even busier when two other shows are held at the same time as Surfaces/Stone Expo. Those two shows will be the International Builders’ Show and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show. Each show will remain separate and distinct, but attendees with stamina will be able to attend all the events during one week.

Chinese New Year at the Wynn
Las Vegas loves Chinese New Year which this year falls on February 10 and is the year of the snake. The large casinos have many special promotions and decorations for the event. Here are a couple photos of decorations at Wynn Las Vegas.

  1. Quite the eye-opener to see all the different types, styles and uses for plants, animals and minerals…rocks and such, just to make our lives more comfortable. Well, if not more comfortable, more beautiful wherever we must walk. Diane’s videos certainly give me thought for moving out to Vegas…and what to do when I get there.
