Rarely do I spend an entire day at one hotel/casino, but I did just that last Thursday.
Friend Pat McHugh made arrangements for me to join her group at the Dennis Bono Show, a live radio broadcast recorded at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa most Thursday afternoons. This past Thursday was the Bono holiday show and featured a top-notch lineup of Las Vegas entertainers. The showroom was packed.
Next I walked to the South Point arena area for a look at an annual event called Christmas with the Clydesdales. The large crowd at Christmas with the Clydesdales meant “short” 20-minute waits for a chance to get close to the magnificent horses for a photo. The free beer and free hot chocolate was dispensed with “no waiting”.
Then, after a bit of South Point gambling (I won $15), I met friend Libby Hoover for dinner at Don Vito’s Italian restaurant and a show modestly called “Tony Orlando’s Great American Christmas Show”. Orlando, at 73, doesn’t quite resemble his posters, but the show was entertaining, somewhat like a live holiday TV special. Tony Orlando’s three shows at the South Point, we’re told, were sell-outs.
I brought my video camera to all these events, my “last gasp” of posting articles having to do with the 2017 holidays. Frankly, Las Vegas is so full of holiday shows, most of them either free or reasonably priced, one can get just about all the holiday magic one can stand. I am now ready for 2018.
Once again (and finally), Happy Holidays everyone!
