Where do managers of bars and nightclubs go to see what’s new in their business and buy for the future? It could be the Nightclub and Bar Show organized by the Nightclub & Bar Media Group, a division of Questex LLC. Now in its 34th year, the show attracts some 30,000 attendees and is called America’s Largest Bar Expo.
The event is loud and bright as exhibitors compete for attention. I have attended Nightclub & Bar in the past but continue to learn and see new things with each visit. For example, I never knew what a Jockey Box was; I had never heard of a spice called Chicken Salt, and for sure I never knew axe-throwing was a popular bar attraction. (I need to spend more time in bars.)
Nightclub & Bar had some 600 exhibitors, but folks who want to attract attention come to the event and just roam the aisles. Five (or maybe it was six) people wearing Hustler t-shirts walked together and were stopped repeatedly for photos. Larry Flint’s Hustler Club is a gentlemen’s club in Las Vegas.
On the fun side of Nightclub and Bar were cocktail competition, a Karaoke Contest and the Nightclub & Bar Awards ceremony. Stoney’s Rockin’ Country in Las Vegas won the award for “Country Bar of the Year”. In total 19 awards in were given.
The event’s Welcome Ceremony was held at Marquee Nightclub and Daycub at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. Party passes were given for attendance at Jewel Nightclub at Aria, On the Record at Park MGM and Intrigue Nightclub at Wynn. An Industry Party was held at Hakkasan Nightclub at MGM Grand.
Educational sessions available to attendees included classes such as, “The History of the Martini,” “Bar Management and Bartending,” “Make Money with Your Music,” “The Future of Cannabis in Hospitality & Nightlife,” and “How Your Bar and Restaurant Can Handle Special Dietary Requests”.
