Lots of trash cans were in the Las Vegas Convention Center West Building aisles last week. The International Pizza Expo & Conference was in town. At the Expo, lots of samples were available…and yes, some of the attendees, including this reporter, did get a bit messy.
But we loved it all.
The Emerald Expositions event is the world’s largest pizza show and is the “annual gathering place for the pizza and Italian restaurant communities to explore all the products and services available to them.” Everything from heavy equipment and pepperoni made from pea protein to text marketing and truffle oil is available at the show.
The event also features lots of learning opportunities with classes such as “Attracting White Collar Sales in a Blue Collar Town”, “Understanding Cheese Prices” and “Pizza Crust Boot Camp Part I”. Pizza experts could also compete for cash prizes in the World Pizza Games in categories such as dough aerobatics, dough stretch, box folding and team pizza making. Lots of cell phone cameras record the Pizza Games action.
Some of those cell phones might also have photographed the magnificent digital sign at the entrance to the West Hall. The sign is huge and features a several Welcome signs along with a number of photographs of Las Vegas and it’s surrounding desert. Another photo opportunity? Upon leaving the Expo hall (and all the goodies one has sampled) a convenient Dunkin’ (Donuts) Express beckons shoppers….
The video below as taken on the last day of the Expo and visits a number of the exhibiting booths.
Great tour of Pizza Expo! Your video got me thinking about all the different coordinated efforts that go into the food we eat! I’m glad I can pay my $5.99 and get a great pizza at the store. I suppose it will soon be $7.99….but, still worth it! Especially nice to see a plug for WI cheese 🙂
Great report on Pizza Expo! Now I’m hungry for Italian!
Thank you for the tour. Now I’m craving sausage and mushrooms pizza, my all-time favorite! In second place is “garbage pizza” (term learned from S&C i. e. Finance & Accoumting Dept.).
