As a dog parent, I can’t help it. I love attending a trade show called SuperZoo, the trade show for pet industry professionals and the largest show of its kind in North America.
In visiting the Mandalay Bay Convention Center‘s crowded trade show floor, I also can’t help but sometimes being embarrassed. I have not chosen to feed my dogs fancy feasts. I visited Connelly’s Red Mills booth whose home country is Ireland. According to their marketing information, Red Mills brags about farm to table freshness of its pet food, providing farmers the seeds and fertilizer to grow grain and the duck and chicken food to grow chickens and duck, Red Mills then purchases the finished products for their pet food, Yes their pet food is on the expensive side, but as the man at the booth explained, they have “discerning” (and well-heeled) clients.
I saw a special dog-hair dryer cabinet “with an ozone mode” that sells for $599.00. I don’t have one of those, either.
I did receive a few samples from exhibitors and I gave them to my dogs for lunch following my visit to the show. Every morsel was eaten so the good stuff may be worth the money. Then again my regular lunches are scarfed down as well.
I did not attend any of the educational sessions that are part of the show. Topics included, “Use Visual Merchandising to Increase Sales and Customers,” “The Yorkie Makeover,” “Navigating Difficult Dogs” and “Stress and Burnout for Groomers.” The show also included a number of grooming competitions such as “Creative Dog and Cat Styling” and “Best first Time Competitor in Show Awards.”
SuperZoo is a World Pet Association show established in 1950. I visited the show last Friday and my video is below.
Great report on Super Zoo!
I live here and I never heard of the SuperZoo. If I would have known, I would have attended.
Great report Diane Taylor! Thank you for all the information!
Great video. Thank you. I didn’t know this show was here. Maybe you can send out a notice for the next one. . I still have two cats Sampson and Delilah.
Fantastic show and fantastic coverage! I’m not a pet person but this show was fascinating. The wide range of products available goes to show how much people love their pets and want to keep them healthy and happy, and where there is a need, there are business opportunities–but so many and so varied! I never would have guessed! Thanks for this insight.
