I like all things Italian! The people, the architecture, the fashion, and–of course–the food! So it was with pleasure that I accepted an invitation to go to the Sphere to learn about the Salone del Mobile, Milan’s world-renowned furniture and furnishings trade show. Since 1961, the show has promoted Italian exports and design. In advance of this year’s show, which will be held April 16 to 21 at Milan’s Rho Fiera fairgrounds, its directors traveled to several cities in the United States to encourage American attendance and involvement. Las Vegas was one of the lucky cities!

On February 20th, I joined the other invited guests at the sultry and sophisticated Theory Lounge, an exclusive venue on the ground floor of the Sphere. Marco Sabetta, the Salone’s General Director, and Luca Adornato, Marketing and Communication Director, spoke passionately about the Salone Del Mobile. They explained how this trade fair hosts a wide range of furnishings, all exemplifying ingenuity, vision, innovation, sustainable excellence, and emotion. While the show began as a showcase for Italian design, it has become increasingly more global as companies from other countries display their brands and innovations.
After the formal presentation, a scrumptious Italian dinner was served. The DELIZIOSO menu included chicken saltimbocca, burrata cheese, arancini, orecchiette pasta in a sublime sausage ragout, risotto, focaccia bread, skewers of charcuterie, and zabaglione! I won’t be attending the Salone del Mobile in Milan, but the wonderful presentation by the Salone’s personnel, capped off with a superb Italian feast, sure makes me wish I could!
