Station Casinos Debuts Renovated & Enlarged Sports Book

Comfort seems to be the king at Sunset Station’s new Sports Book.

On May 16, the first bet was placed on Station Casino’s renovated Sunset Station Sports Book. Yes, there was also a ribbon cutting and executives who said great things about the new “luxury” sports book in Henderson, NV.

But on my visit last Friday, I didn’t notice so much luxury as comfort. The place was not dark; you could see your way around (hooray!). The carpet was colorful and soft. With an outside temperature that met 100 degrees, many of the folks on hand (and my visit was early so the weekend crowd hadn’t yet arrived) wore shorts and comfortable shoes.

Want to sit at a table and watch sports, talk or read the racing form? The leather arm chairs look mighty comfy and even tilt back. Other tables for dining have more practical chairs, but still allow diners to watch favorite teams (or horses). Maybe you prefer to sit at a desk and bet horses with your own TV screen right in front of you. Yep, that’s available. Or if you prefer to sit theatre-style, watching sports with other sports fans, enjoying conversation and a drink, you can do that, too.

A huge bar in the middle/back of the sports book is mighty impressive. Folks sitting on bar stools at the bar can drink, watch video screens and/or play video games. VIP bettors can be accommodated as well, though when I asked one gentleman what the aN Sports app don’t even have to go forward to the counter and place their bets; they can just sit comfortably and use their app.

The new sports book is huge (2000 square feet) and it is not separated from the casino, so some folks, I guess, can bet on a baseball game and then try a slot machine or two. The casino area of Sunset Station is due for renovation as well.

I took some photos during my Friday visit and they are below:

VIP seating may be useful, but not during last Friday’s photo visit.

How nice, a ramp for folks or deliveries that need one.

  1. Thank you for another tour. Thanks to you, I’m able to feel like being in Vegas and seeing all the new places that I may not be able to visit at all in my lifetime. You’re a wonderful tourist guide, Diane.
